[casual_games] future of shockwave

Okay,
This has been a very useful discussion for me. Its helped us make a few decisions.

Last night, my friend and new collaborator ported one of my games to Flash 8. He'd already ported it to Director, and the port to Flash 8 was a relatively quick process. So, since we can do Flash 8, I think we will abandon Shockwave and use Flash 8. We will, of course, continue to develop dhtml versions of all games because:
1) the coolness factor of being able to use dhtml to produce action games (noone else does this), and
2) they are easily converted into widgets and gadgets.

The Flash versions can be used for licensing since they do not suffer from the cross-browser issues that can affect dhtml games.

So, here is my next question: Does anyone have any data, or predictions on the speed of Flash 8 uptake?

Thanks for all your comments in this thread,
Cheers,
Brent.
