There is also the books "Well Played" and "The Game Design Reader" - both are
collections of essays on games. For budget-conscious students, the former is
available as a free download, while the latter contains many essays that are
available online if you google them :-)

There's an online journal "e-Learning and Digital Media"
(http://www.wwwords.co.uk/elea/) that publishes more scholarly game reviews.
I've written some of them, but there are others. I believe most of them are free
to download now.

You should encourage your students to contribute to the journal and write up
scholarly game review.
