Games in Education Panel seeks Presenters

The use of games and gamification in education has drawn a lot of attention in recent years. How do games facilitate learning? How can gaming mechanics motivate learners in ways that traditional methods don't? How can games function in a learning environment? What types of learning can games facilitate better than traditional modes of instruction?

Looking for people to present case studies of how they have used games in higher education or to present research on gamification. 15-20 minute presentations with a short Q&A to follow. Short summaries (250 word) are due March 26, 2012.

The Southern California Technology in Education Conference serves to promote the regional development, use, and exchange of technology 'best practices' in the service of effective teaching, learning, and educational administration. The event brings together educators, academic technologists, IT professionals, senior administrators, and industry partners to explore new technologies for interactive digital media and communications, distance learning, campus IT infrastructure, learning spaces & facilities, and administrative software applications for education.

The Southern California Technology in Education Conference is on April 17, 2012 at CSU-Dominguez Hills in Carson, CA.
