Senior Researcher in Visualisation and Simulation

As a Senior Researcher, you will provide support in the form of
intellectual input and technical expertise in the growing area of real time
computer graphics, visualisation and simulation within the Digital Design
Studio (DDS).

Reporting to the Director of the Digital Design Studio, your task will be
to act primarily as a PI on major projects, to source significant research
funding and to be actively engaged in commercial and research projects
associated with digital documentation and real-time simulation within a
range of sectors such as oil and gas, urban visualisation (e.g. heritage
and built environment) and marine (e.g. virtual ship-building) sectors.

The postholder is expected to be highly research active and lead the
preparation of research bids in line with the DDS strategic research
objectives as they apply across visualisation and interaction sectors. The
postholder will be required to support PI activity in research and
commercial activities as defined by the Director.

This is a target driven role and the key emphasis is to develop research
income that meets defined targets, set on an annual basis by the Director
Educated to doctoral degree level in computing science, digital
visualisation or a related discipline, the postholder will be expected to
have a sound research track record, exemplified by inclusion into the
recent REF2014 exercise. The postholder will also be expected to have a
proven track record in business and/or public sector related contexts.
