The 1st (AIIDE-14) Workshop on Research in Cognitive-based Approaches
to Intelligent Interactive Digital Entertainment! (RCAIIDE)

====================
  About the Workshop
====================
Adhering to the idea that the fundamental criterion for the design of
interactive experiences rests in the mind of the human consumer, this
workshop aims to advance research in cognitive-focused artificial
intelligence in the context of interactive digital entertainment. The
workshop focuses on the study of intelligent interactive entertainment
from the lens of cognition. It will bring together scholars from
diverse disciplines to discuss how cognition can be used as a
framework for informing the design of artifacts intended to elicit
specific cognitive, affective, and physiological responses.

====================
  Call for Papers
====================
We invite potential authors to submit papers relevant to
cognitive-focused challenges in and relating to the design of
interactive digital experiences. A non-exhaustive list of illustrative
workshop topics is provided below, as a guide to potential authors.

- Adaptive game environments that consider cognitive and affective states
- Cognitive and affective theories, models, and analyses of player behavior
- Cognitive and affective focused design of non-player characters and stories
- Cognitive and affective load in the presence of complex interactive
environments
- Cognitive and affective player analytics
- Cognitively mediated interactive experiences
- Case studies of player behavior
- Cognitive foundations of play, interactivity, and narrative in video games
