Abertay University seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Game Design within the Division of Games and Arts in the School of Arts, Media and Computer Games. The ideal candidate will have a good theoretical foundation and established research practice as well as documented experience in the design and development of digital games in a studio or other collaborative environment. Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant subject or have equivalent professional experience in a relevant area covering game design principles, practices and the history, theory and contexts of games, interactive media and computer arts. The successful candidates will teach game design theory and practice to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the School of Arts, Media and Computer Games while pursuing relevant research and practice within their field.

The School of Arts, Media and Computer Games is the UK's pre-eminent centre for education in the technology, art and production of computer games, the School enjoys extremely strong links with industry that underpin both teaching excellence and research impact in games development and the application of gaming technologies in other fields.

Abertay University's leadership in teaching and research in the field of digital games is internationally recognised. The Division of Games and Arts is home to Abertay's research and teaching in game design, development and computer arts. Academic staff in the division has pursued research on a diverse range of themes, including games with purpose, affective computing, graphics programming, interactive design in the performing arts, experimental game jams, and game aesthetics. Recent research and knowledge exchange collaborations include projects with Microsoft UK and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, 20th Century Fox, the Victoria and Albert Museum of London, the National Theatre of Scotland, and the Scottish Dance Theatre.
