[game_edu] 1 Week Left to Apply for IGDA Scholars at GDC Europe & Gamescom

Calling all Educators and Student Advocates,

Just 1 Week remains for IGDA Scholarships applications to GDC Europe &
Gamescom. GDC Europe will take place 15-16 August and Gamescom from 17-21
August, 2016 in Cologne, Germany. Students from all over the globe in
undergrad to PhD programs that are interested in being part of the games
industry are eligible for this opportunity. Our deadline has been extended
to 7 June 2016.

The IGDA Scholarship Program celebrates 15 years of awarding almost 600
scholarships to kickstart the careers of the best and brightest students
entering the games industry. Scholarship recipients will receive:

· *Conference Passes* to GDC Europe & Gamescom
· *NEW!* We now offer a $500 to $1500 USD travel stipend to our 8
recipients who are selected to attend GDC Europe and Gamescom. Amount
received is based upon where the student's university is located and
distance traveled.
· *Mentorship*: A veteran, industry mentor assigned to the scholarship
recipient based on the field of his or her study. This mentor meets with
them during the conference, helps them network, and maintains a
relationship with the student throughout his or her career.
· *Special events*: This is usually specific to Gamescom and this permits
students to play games and meet with developers one on one during these
events. During Gamescom 2015, students got the chance to attend the
European Games Showcase and had special VIP access to the Star Citizen
Party.
· *Q&A Sessions*: We invite students to speak to veterans in private
sessions. In 2015 our GDC Europe & Gamescom scholars had the opportunity to
speak with industry luminaries including Double Fine's Oliver Franzke, Rami
Ismail, Guerilla Games' Tim Stobo, and Ron Gilbert!
