Hi There,

This is just to let you know of a new book called “Unity 5 from Zero to
Proficiency - Advanced <http://learntocreategames.com/learn-unity-ebook-4/>”.
This is the 4th book in the series and it focuses on multiplayer network
games, procedural levels and code and project optimization in C# within
Unity.

The idea of this book series is to guide the readers from no knowledge of
Unity (or coding) to reasonable levels of proficiency. The book series
consists of four books (i.e., Foundations, Beginner, Intermediate, and
Advanced) where the reader can follow a step-by-step approach to learn
about Unity, JavaScript and C# programming, and games development.

I have been liaising with several teachers who have used one or all of
these books in the past months, and they found it useful to introduce
programming concepts and to motivate students to develop their coding
skills and create a game from scratch, as the instructions are detailed and
step-by-step; so hopefully, these might be helpful to some of your students
too.

The first book (Foundations
<http://www.amazon.com/Unity-Proficiency-Foundations-step---step-ebook/dp/B016YF7OKS/>)
focuses on discovering Unity's interface and creating (and navigating
through) both indoor and outdoor environments (e.g., walking, driving a car
or piloting a plane).

The second book (Beginner
<http://www.amazon.com/Unity-Proficiency-Beginner-step---step-ebook/dp/B019L2YF4Y/>)
focuses on programming in JavaScript to implement basic mechanics (e.g.,
collision detection, updating the score, updating the user interface,
playing sound, adding NPCs, loading a new level, or setting the NPCs to
follow the player).

The third book (Intermediate
<http://www.amazon.com/Unity-Proficiency-Intermediate-step---step-ebook/dp/B01EJCE85M/>)
focuses on intermediate skills and coding in C#. Topics covered in this
book include: an introduction to C#, weapons creation, the design of a
simple inventory system, 3D character animation, managing the animations
based on events (e.g., walk, run, hit, etc.), creating explosions, NPC
navigation, sight detection (e.g., detect if the player is in the field of
view), Artificial Intelligence, or procedural level generation.

The 4th book (Advanced) <http://learntocreategames.com/learn-unity-ebook-4/>
focuses on multiplayer network games, procedural levels and code
optimization in C# within Unity and is available on Amazon today.

As for the other books in the series, there are *10 free evaluation copies
up for grabs* for this book, on a first come, first served basis;

So, if you'd like a copy of the Advanced book, you can just email me at
pfelicia at gmail.com.

Hope this helps.

Best Wishes,

- Patrick
