Hi Joe, good afternoon

I would assume that if the patient has only IgA deficiency his/her cellular immunity is fine, therefore there is a low risk (similar to "healthy" individuals) of presenting a severe disease induced by YF vaccine.

In the inlands of Brazil the citizens are vaccinated by YF vaccine with very low adverse reactions.
One of my patients (homozygous for a IL-12RB1 mutation) was immunized with YF vaccine without adverse reaction (he only told me after being vaccinated).

Hope that could be useful.

Best regards,

Dewton

A 20+ year old patient is traveling to Africa and is recommended to receive Yellow Fever Vaccine.

She has selective IgA deficiency. Assuming she does not have an antibody deficiency is there a contraindication to giving her the YF vaccine?
