Hi Mikko,

Sorry I omitted my signature line and thank you for your question.

I have used nitazoxinide successfully in teenagers with CVID and CD40L deficiency. I use 500mg PO BID until there was clinical resolution of diarrhea. In both cases, the patients continued to asymptomatically shed norovirus for several weeks afterwards but eventually we could not detect it in their stools.

He did clear the infection with oral IVIG , but has recurrence after 2.5 months of therapy.
He was on ribavirin( 400mg BID)  for  1 year prior to seeing us, which we discontinued as his liver dysfunction and the use of ribavirin did seem to coincide.

Does anyone have experience with using any other modality for treating norovirus gastroenteritis?
