[CIS PIDD] [cis-pidd] Rhodotorula mucilaginosa in a CGD patient

[CIS-PIDD]

Dear all, we need your advice on a14 year-old girl with AR-CGD who presented a new consolidation in the left upper lobe in a lung CT scan that was performed as part of her pre-SCT evaluation. The patient remained afebrile and presented almost no symptoms, maybe some more cough than usually. Serum and BAL GM were negative. An open biopsy was performed and showed interstitial pneumonia with some foci of organizing pneumonia and two non-caseous granulomatous lesions and all cultures yielded negative results. 16sRNA PCR was negative (although definitive results of nested PCR are still pending) and Rhodotorula mucilaginosa was detected by panfungal PCR. I have not found any report of this microorganism in CGD patients and almost nothing about pulmonary involvement in other immunocompromised patients. 

Any experience? Other suggestions?
