In the context of DiGeorge it has been proposed that live vaccines can be given to children >1 year of age if they have

· CD8+ T cells are >300 cells/mm3

· CD4+ T cells are >500 cells/mm3

· antibodies to killed vaccine antigens demonstrated

· normal or near-normal proliferative responses to mitogens and recall antigens (e.g. tetanus)

Some use a CD8 >250 as the parameter for routine vaccinations with live viruses. One could measure the response to other vaccines to get some measure of reassurance.

A brief question -

In the context of following many children with lymphocytopenia of varying degrees discovered via newborn screening, is there consensus on criteria for resuming live vaccines?

Thanks!
