To minimize air time, most broadcasters transmit weekly tests with only
the AFSK data headers, the three long duck quacks and EOM, three
short quacks. It takes about 10 to 15 seconds.

The attention signal is the 8-second tone, and the audio message is the
2-minute spoken message are optional for weekly tests. The National
Weather Service weekly tests include the NWS version of the warning
tone and a audio message.

Routine monthly tests include all four components (AFSK header, attention
tone, audio message and EOM) of the EAS message. It takes about 30 to 90
seconds.
