Congrats Gary on your notice of retirement from the world of EAS – I did the same thing a couple of years ago.

You are a legend in the world of EAS and it’s been great knowing you and having you on the SBE Team.

I know Chris, he’s a great and smart guy and will do well.

To my EAS friends and colleagues across the country,

After 30+ years as Broadcast Chair of the Wisconsin EAS Committee (FCC SECC), I have decided to retire from this position as of March 1, 2023. The Wisconsin SECC unanimously elected committee member Chris Tarr as my successor.

Chris is Group Director of Engineering for Magnum Media, a family-owned Wisconsin radio group with 25 stations from Racine to Eau Claire. He is very active with the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) both in Wisconsin and has served twice on its National Board of Directors. He also serves on the Wisconsin Broadcasters Clinic program committee.

Chris is eminently qualified for this position, and I have every confidence that he will do a great job – with the full support of our 13-member SECC. He can be reached at: <mailto:chris at tarr.cc> chris at tarr.cc

With the recent FCC approval of our State EAS Plan and me turning 70 years old this month, this seems like a good transition point. It’s been a privilege to volunteer my service all these years for the people of Wisconsin, and the EAS on a national basis. I will truly miss my EAS colleagues and friends, and thanx to you all for the support and rewarding relationships.

God Speed to you all in keeping IPAWS and our EAS strong down the road,

Gary Timm, Broadcast Chair

Wisconsin EAS Committee (FCC SECC)
