ASSISTANCE CHIEF ENGINEER

WYIN, Lakeshore PTV Merrillville, IN (suburb of Chicago) is looking to fill 
the position of ACE starting Oct.1. If you are looking for big bux, read 
another ad. If you want job satisfaction, lots of projects, excitement of live news 
and sports, reasonable work hours and decent pay and good health/retirement 
benefits, family life in a low tax environment, you may qualify.  

WYIN produces a live daily newscast including Accuweather. We have a mobile 
production truck, and a new news chopper. We expect to do over 30 live 
basketball games via live satellite link this season. We have major projects to 
convert our digital SD MCR to a 6 channel all HD automated system, a new HD studio 
control, a massive central server,  satellite uplink truck, and much more. Work 
requires some night and weekend work for normal TX maintenance and live 
sports remotes ACE is the EIC for mobile production. 

Applicant must have prior digital experience, preferably with GVG, FCP, 
Omneon, automation, IT and be able to continue build out of our local equipment VPN 
including multiple remote sites. Plant is fully documented in AutoCAD, and 
ACE must be able to update drawings and database. Plant uses color coding of 
cables plain text wire labels. No numerical lookup tables. Must be self starter 
that recognizes where improvements can be made and suggest corrective activity. 
Must know UHF and microwave RF, HD/SDI, AES, and proper cable termination. 
Must be able to operate multiple downlink sat antennas/receivers, via panel and 
GUI control.  Most equipment is new, not a lot of bench work beyond broken 
items, mostly PM and construction for the next 3-4 years. 

Engineering level SBE certification expected. 2-4 years formal electronics 
training and 5 years experience minimum to do the work efficiently.  Certified 
Attendance at Gary Sgrignoli's 8VSB test and measurement seminar a plus. 
Applicant needs good logic solving skills, be physically able to move equipment, 
work in live news environment, be a mentor to news, production and MCR operators.
