Setting the Zone Alarm security setting to medium worked for me.

Securitypatch !!

Hello all !

Since many of us also assist users with computers -- even if the
office/studio computers aren't affected since they generally don't use Zone
Alarm, many of your co-workers home computers probably do.

And I betcha you're going to get lots of requests for help.

Suddenly after getting the latest Microsoft updates -- no more Internet
access for browsing or email !

Love that computer word "Update!!"

Zone Alarm (at least the installation I have here, and, according to my ISP,
the installations that many of their subscribers have) is NOT compatible
with the latest Microsoft DNS security patch release !!!

I do not like the idea of uninstalling the patch. For me OS security
patches trump inconvenience!

I've read that by moving the Zone Alarm Internet Zone security from High to
Medium the problem goes away, but haven't tried it.

I've just disabled (temporarily) Zone Alarm and turned on XP's built-in
firewall.

Your mileage may vary.

But by keeping your computer off the Internet it certainly does make your
computer secure !!!
