Base station cell phone appliances (transceivers) are great at remote
transmitter sites.

To a regular telephone or to a modem, they seem just like plugging your
RJ-11 into a landline wire jack. They're available in CDMA and GSM, and in
power outputs up to 3 watts. The modern ones do seem to put out enough ring
voltage -- some of the early analog ones didn't.

You can check out some of them at

http://www.cellantenna.com/BaseStation/cellular_base_station.htm

a web site with which I have absolutely no affiliation.

I recently helped the CE of KUNM install one at a Rocky Mountain Alternative
transmitter site north of Espanola, NM, high atop a mesa in the middle of
absolutely nowhere!

Connected to a Yagi antenna, it works great !!

Hello all,

Here's one for you. Remote monitoring . downloading equipment
logs and so on. I have to do this for our stations logging. The equipment
that I have stores up to 1000 logs and it's a 8 hour drive north to get the
logs. The equipments modem has a RJ11 jack to access via a phone line. The
problem is the transmit site has no phone or internet lines ran to it. My
AT&T cell phone works ok up there, but I can always subscribe to a service
that works better.

Is there something out there . cell phone adaptor - anything .
that can plug into a RJ11 phone jack . that will give me the ability to call
up this tool and pull my logs?

Bill
