Stu,

We got the HVR-950Q which the TS Reader web site says it supports, but I
don't know how to get it working. When I open TS Reader I get no data.
(Hauppauge is running). What am I doing wrong?

These days I use the Happaugue 950 (a USB 8VSB + QAM + VSB) adapter
there
are several software packages that will provide different measurements
from RF to MPEG transport stream (RF eXpert - TS Reader that I use most
often) but there are several others

if you use a laptop with a 1920x1200 display (Dell D820 and newer have
that option) you can see the full 1080i display - add a 'real' antenna
(has "F" connector) and you've got a very portable DTV survey rig

yes it's not NBS traceable and I doubt the accuracy of any consumer
device
but I've been to locations where the haystack is barely visible on a
spectrum analyzer and the little 6" antenna was able to lock on and
decode
the transport
