And, to reinforce what Clay said about 'clear'. It is not only the direct line of sight that is important. You must be sure of what is the beamwidth of the signal as (Inverse Distance) is travels over your path. Items such as trees and shiny glass buildings that are adjacent to but appear to be outside of the path can generate significant multipath to these signals. Even on short path this can be an issue. I have seen several situations where these things work great in winter and fall to peices during summer even though the product manufactuer was sure the path was ok when they looked at pictures the client sent.
