[SBE] SBE EAS Meeting at NAB

this will be NAB (mumble mumble 30 something for me) I've missed a 
few over the years, about half have been as an Exhibitor (many as 
tech lead which as we all know means sleep is optional) and about 
half as CE or consulting SI - either way for me it's not the big guys 
I'm looking at its all the little booths with the strange widgets and 
of course who is still alive and still in the biz

but there are the interesting things that happen

maiden flight of the shuttle, CVS had just been glommed and devoured 
by the "H factor" I came in the wee hours and rolled tape on the 
launch - when it landed the last day of the show the entire show came 
to a standstill - I still have the reels of 1" guess I should 
transfer them before all the 1" die

the tragic years of the school shooting in CO when every ENG truck 
and camera disappeared and a few years later as we all watched the 
big Janet Reno BBQ of the wacko Waco bunch

when Ronald Regain's award was snatched and shattered by the homeless 
dude who just wandered in and in a crowd of broadcasters didn't stand out

that and IBC (anyone remember "rhymes with Baloney stand below high 
tide in Brighton Beach?) and the bizarre tram ride back to Damm 
Square on 11 Sept 2001 - there is a 2 block area that is 
predominantly "Middle Eastern" where folks were celebrating

so, I'll be making the hajj to lost wages once again
