[SBE] 700 MHz wireless question

How has the word been spread? I can't imagine that every church has
been notified. Word did spread rapidly through our industry, but then
again that is our business. I have a feeling if you surveyed churches
across the country that only a very low percentage, probably just a
fraction of a percent, would know about this issue, and even a smaller
number of those would realize that it actually does affect them. Just
replacing their microphones is going to be a financial hardship for many
churches, especially in these economic times when giving is way down.

So far, there hasn't been any interference issues right now, except for
one client downtown DC. My concern is they hold out and then all get
slammed.

Ray is absolutely correct. Those local government and church entities
are amazingly efficient at complaining when you cause interference to
them. We should police our assigned channels with equal vigilance.

Of course they do understand they are not authorized to operate on TV
channels and could be fined $10,000? This includes local governments.
Look at the Part 90 fines that local government entities get.
I recommend they move as soon as possible. One complaint and they will
be in a difficult position.

I've got some local gov't and church clients that have a lot of 700 MHz
wireless mic systems, one church is less than 500 yards from a
firestation. I read the article in the Signal about the changeover, but
how tight is the enforcement going to be? Do I need to start pushing
them all towards new gear now? I've mentioned the issue to some, but
they don't seem to be too receptive (pun intended).
