We are using a set top box and have turned off the auto shut off feature and put it on a UPS, it has worked great for months now. Only $40 - $60.

There was some discussion about using a USB DTV tuner in a cheap
laptop for this sort of thing. It might not be the best solution, but
it's 10% of the cost of the Radio Shack solution.
