[SBE] FM stereo silence detector/alarm

Another one to look at is the CircuitWerkes Silence Sentinal. It has a
web-based control too. From a remote location you can connect and see
VU meters to see that you're on the air plus get a history. Saw it at
the NAB and it looks pretty cool.

You can also look at Broadcast Tools for a model that has a phone dialer
built in. I saw it at the show, but don't see it on their web-site
right now. It allows you to record a custom message for the phone
dialer, and it will dial multiple numbers.

These are newer solutions. I'm personally using the Broadcast Tools
Silence Monitor, one for each station, and the relay closure ties into
the Broadcast Tools AVR-8, which accepts up to 8 input closures. Each
closure triggers a different telephone "dial out" sequence and starts a
different recorded message. For example, if K-92 has silence, it will
call a number that rings in every studio in the building with a recorded
message that says "K92 is off the air, K92 is off the air". If no
answer, it will call the paging system in the building, then it could
call a program director, hotline, engineer, etc. Cool part is that
during the business day, if DJ makes a mistake, it announces it over
the paging system for the entire building to hear. J It all works very
well.
