[SBE] The SBE IRLP Reflector

Just a note on the 9615 reflector. The Great Lakes Reflector (#
9600-9619) is owned by a buddy of mine, Mike Wolthuis, KB8ZGL. Mike
turned over use of reflector # 9615 to me, and several other people
suggested that we use it for broadcast engineering linking. We do call
it the SBE 9615 Reflector, and, yes, many times, there is no one on it.

That should be changing as some high profile repeaters are going
online to 9615 in essentially a full time mode.

Sometime this month, the server that runs 9615 will be replaced, and
once it and the new software are online, it will combine the IRLP
Reflector with an EchoLink reflector (96150 I think). As another bonus,
there will be a Shoutcast server so many of us can listen in from work.
With the Echolink addition in there, many hams in broadcast engineering
will be able to dial in from their home computers.

If you are interested in what might be going on in the future with
reflector # 9615, please go to www.glirlp.org, and click on the link for
the new list server that is up for 9615.

Please note that while we call this reflector the SBE 9615, you do
not have to be a member of the SBE to be on there. If we ever have a
Katrina style incident in the future, the reflector can be used to
coordinate broadcast engineers headed down to the disaster area.

I will let this list server know when the Echolink function is running.
