[SBE] Thanks for your membership

Many of you should have received the email announcing the winners of this year's 
membership drive.  Many of those winners are on this list.  You may have also 
seen the note in the trade press today.

First, Congratulations to the membership drive winners.  Your dedication to the 
Society is the key to our self-support.

There's a statement buried at the bottom of the announcement that is 
significant.  It's "boilerplate" but it states some really important facts.

"The Society of Broadcast Engineers is the professional organization of 
television and radio engineers and those in related fields. SBE has more than 
5,700 members in 112 chapters across the United States. There are also members 
in more than 20 other countries. Most chapters meet monthly and offer 
educational programs and an opportunity to network with other engineers. SBE 
offers the largest and most recognized certification program for broadcast 
engineers, operators and technicians, with more than 5,000 certifications 
currently active and offers an ever-growing number of online and technical 
educational programs."


In a time challenging economics and industry turmoil,  Broadcast Engineers all 
over the US have realized the importance of joining together and using our 
shared efforts to improve our education, our access to information and contacts, 
and to certify our skill sets.
