[SBE] Spectrum Analyzer for AM NRSC measurements

I made a typo on the model number of the suggested spectrum analyzer. It is
an Anritsu MS2721B. By the way, I highly recommend springing for the
tracking generator option. Whenever measuring harmonics, it is useful to
insert either a band-rejection filter or a band-pass filter to prevent the
fundamental or other strong signals from overloading the analyzer, causing
false indications. The tracking generator can be used to tune the filter,
prior to making measurements. The addition of a directional coupler will
allow you to make return loss measurements on an antenna system, if you have
the tracking generator.

I have been very well pleased with the Anritsu 8721B. It is also excellent
for FM and IBOC measurements. I was a bit disappointed with Anritsu's
service, however. When I sent the unit in for calibration, they told me
that it needed repair, to the tune of $3000. Additionally, the manufacturer
itself did not have the parts for a current instrument, which caused a delay
in getting my unit back in service.

Bob;

A very useful resource would be this
document: http://www.nrscstandards.org/SG/NRSC-G201-A.pdf which is the
NRSC's guideline for NRSC measurement methods

Annex 2 includes a list of analyzers that have certified that they are
suitable for NRSC measurements, particularly if IBOC is used.

Well, it looks like my venerable HP 8562A has bit the dust, and while
I've been told it may be repairable, I'm considering replacement. The
question for members of the list who do annual NRSC measurements on AM
stations, what make and model of spectrum analyzer are you using now?
Any recommendations? I will probably rent an Anritsu MS2721B to get
this years measurements done on time, but I'm not ready to spring for
that purchase if my old unit is repairable or there is a less expensive
newer unit that will do the job.
