[SBE] HP Printers vs Canon

I have the BEST color laser printer ever made.  Ink comes as "bars of 'ink soap'", easy to load.. just drop in, little to no waste, photo quality pictures even on plane cheap white paper, no problems, no jams.. the best!
It's a Xerox Phaser 8860 MFP.
I back it it with a large format HP Designjet 111n for ANSI sized documents (poster).
Would recommend both.. but certainly the Xerox over any color printer I've ever used.

Yeah, I had an HP color inkyjet that never worked right.  I have mixed feelings about HP lasers.  They're user hostile in design and finding a competent repairman is difficult.  They make good prints for so many years that you have plenty of time to come to really hate them.

WORST value on the market, exceeded only by Epson in poor TCO.
OTOH, I am supremely happy with the Canon printers I have
purchased over the years.  Between the ridiculous software
loads, the convoluted alignment process that wastes ink and
sometimes interrupts print jobs, the going off-line for no
reason, the short cords provided, or no cord at all, just a
horrible experience.  HP typically seems to cost $20 more than
Canon and does less.  I have a Canon Pixma that I use on the
road and have no problems.  But the deskjets in the office are
just one issue after another.  I am done with HP printers and
stopped buying their PCs a long time ago.
