This is how I got gray hair…I warned my Association staff that if they upgraded to Windows 7, the 3 3550’s in the main office would be useless. I can’t believe there isn’t a patch out there to fix this, but my IT expert son doesn’t have one and can’t find one. You are right, no way am I going to buy another HP product. Meg Whitman has a lot of work to do.

OTOH, I am supremely happy with the Canon printers I have purchased over the years.  Between the ridiculous software loads, the convoluted alignment process that wastes ink and sometimes interrupts print jobs, the going off-line for no reason, the short cords provided, or no cord at all, just a horrible experience.  HP typically seems to cost $20 more than Canon and does less.  I have a Canon Pixma that I use on the road and have no problems.  But the deskjets in the office are just one issue after another.  I am done with HP printers and stopped buying their PCs a long time ago.
