Checkout the following link for the 3550 work around.
BTW: don't buy Kodak printers they are terrible.

> I would disagree with you except…I love my HP 3550 color LaserJet. It has been a workhorse for the past 5 years. Dependable, reliable, easy to use, double-siding copy after copy of the Broadcast Checklists I use for station inspections. Except…last year I invested in a new, space-ship of a computer, a custom-built, gee-whiz monster that came complete with Windows 7. Isn’t learning new software and hooking up peripherals always a headache? My little HP 6110 fax-copier-printer fit right in. No way could I make my HP 3550 work with Windows 7. When I went to the HP website to find a driver, I found a note instead that said I was outta luck, there was no driver for the 3550 and they recommended that I buy one of their new LaserJet printers…Huh? A 99$ combo printer works fine but the 799$ printer is on the shelf? What’s that about? Built-in obsolescence? I may have been blonde at one time, but HSDYTIA? (How Stupid Do You Think I Am?) This is how I got gray hair…I warned my Association staff that if they upgraded to Windows 7, the 3 3550’s in the main office would be useless. I can’t believe there isn’t a patch out there to fix this, but my IT expert son doesn’t have one and can’t find one. You are right, no way am I going to buy another HP product. Meg Whitman has a lot of work to do.

OTOH, I am supremely happy with the Canon printers I have purchased over the years. Between the ridiculous software loads, the convoluted alignment process that wastes ink and sometimes interrupts print jobs, the going off-line for no reason, the short cords provided, or no cord at all, just a horrible experience. HP typically seems to cost $20 more than Canon and does less. I have a Canon Pixma that I use on the road and have no problems. But the deskjets in the office are just one issue after another. I am done with HP printers and stopped buying their PCs a long time ago.
