[SBE] Video Question

All video server manufacturers I'm aware of usually include an app for
timed or event based records and ingest. These are usually stand-alone
apps. For timed events, they would require TOD time code. If you have an
automation system, check with your automation vendor about automatic ingest
of incoming feeds. That's pretty common.

If you're asking for a recommendation for a video server to do this task,
there are many. But first you have to assess your storage needs and number
of channels required. The same apps mentioned above, as well as automation
systems, have a rules-based mechanisms to purge content. 360 Systems,
Omneon Media Deck or Spectrum, and Grass Valley K2 products come to mind.

As for searching, again the included apps usually offer a simply media
management feature for rules-based search and query.

Good Luck

Hello Group

Here’s a question for the TV/video folks. Let say you have 4 feeds all
sending HD audio and video back to the your facility at the same time. If
you wanted to just record that video for future use with or without human
intervention what options are there on the market?

To help with some details, ideally it would either record on a closure from
a network or a timed recording session (feeds that come in at a set time
each day.)

Need to keep it for 30 days
.FIFO method of file management so 30 days is
about all the storage I’d need. (Yeah, I know it’s a huge number but it’s a
starting point.) Assuming also that the feed is getting to you in HD-SDI
format.

I just can’t seem to find the right search terms to locate it assuming it’s
out there that is
I did see the Newtek Tricaster looks like it can do most
of what I need but I’m curious as to what else is out there. Anything
simpler?

I can do this a dozen ways with audio but once you start adding pictures to
the mix it gets into a hardware type that I have never dealt with.

Any help would be appreciated.
