Job Summary: The Director of Engineering and Technical Services functions as chief engineer and technology officer for WVUA-TV, Alabama Public Radio, and the Center for Public Television in the Digital Media Center.

Additional Department Summary: This position is required to maintain a high operational standard relative to technological innovation, strategic investigation of current and emerging distribution platforms, maintenance and upkeep of various broadcast and computer technologies, compliance with FCC broadcast regulations and general knowledge of digital broadcast, mobile and computer and online industries. As a member of the senior management team, this position is a hands-on leader and supervises, trains and evaluates a staff of broadcast, operations, and IT engineers and technicians in keeping all facilities in top-notch condition and positioned for future development.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of six years of broadcast operations and advanced technology experience.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of all areas of digital broadcasting and IT operations, along with studio and non-linear post-production infrastructure. Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate responding to emergency activities.  Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Job Summary: The Broadcast Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining a range of broadcast and IT equipment and provides technical advice and expertise to operational and program activities. Responsible for the overall technical quality and transmission of the broadcast. May be responsible for technology planning and budgeting.

Additional Department Summary: This position will provide technical oversight and knowledge for the Crimson Tide productions department. Serves as the operations/technical coordinator before, during and after events in conjunction with the main broadcast engineer.  The Engineer/Remote Operations Coordinator will serve a vital role in SEC network productions. This role will also be crucial in setup, maintaining, scheduling of remote equipment for use during SEC network productions, Big Screen Productions and others as needed.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Television, Communication, Film or other relevant field and 3 years of broadcast or relevant experience OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, education and/or certification from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been obtained. Excellent mechanical/electrical skills for connectors, wiring, etc. Understanding of Audio/videos connections and technology. Understanding of various pieces of broadcast equipment such as clip servers, replay equipment, tape decks etc. Strong knowledge of broadcast operations.
