[SBE] Bluetooth adapter for RTS intercom?

Hello Andy !

Most cases like yours use a “streamer” to accept IHF line level audio (audio outputs from a TV set or an AM/FM tuner) and “stream” the audio to paired Bluetooth enabled hearing aids.

I’ve set up a handful of these for hard of hearing folks, of which I’m one.

Alternatively, if your hearing aids have “Hearing Loop” T-coils (telecoils) inside or if they can be add (about 85% of modern hearing aids can have them and about 70% of them come that way from the factory, although not all hearing aid dispensers or audiologists even tell their patients about them.

I volunteer extensively in the hard of hearing and in the low vision/blind communities with technological solutions.

In my case, I’ve placed a run of cheap cat-5 computer cable around the edges of the roof of our house, and by selecting the audio source(s) I want to hear, I get TV audio, any of my various ham radios, AM or FM, or satellite radio anywhere within the house and within about 10 feet of it. The loop is fed by a 100 watt PA amplifier with a compressor/limiter in front of it.

I’ve donated hearing loop systems to a number of community theaters, churches, classrooms, and a synagogue.

There is lots of hearing loop info on the Internet – one that a handful of us here in New Mexico contribute to is http://www.loopnm.com/ .

An advantage of hearing loops over Bluetooth is that no pairing is required, and it’s a “one-to-many” system.

You can even hook audio up to a “neckloop” that goes around your neck. Some models can then feed audio to your hearing aids via Bluetooth if you don’t have T-Coils in your hearing aids.

But if you just want “Bluetooth in your pocket,” a streamer is the way to go!

If this is of interest to you or to anyone, please contact me directly.

Hearing loops have enriched my life and the lives of many members of our hard-of-hearing community.

Mike/

Subject: [SBE] Bluetooth adapter for RTS intercom?

So as I've gotten older my hearing has deteriorated and I now use hearing aids. But there's a slight advantage — they also function as bluetooth earbuds. If only I could hear the RTS intercom at work over them. I've searched online but haven't found a commercial product designed as a bluetooth adapter for intercoms. Am I just not looking in the right place?

What I'm hoping to find is an XLR pass-through that would go between my headset and the intercom panel, and feed the earphone audio out via Bluetooth. Or, as there are small Bluetooth transmitters available, instead of internal Bluetooth perhaps a device that taps the earphone audio to a 1/8" stereo jack.

Does anyone know about anything like either of these?

Sent from my tablet via radio — yes, wireless is radio.
