[Techtoolslist] The Age Old - "What Eprom Programmer should I get" question

Maybe a Data I/O 2xx series programmer would work for you?
 
I use a Data I/O 29B for proms & 2708s, but everything else I do with  a Data 
I/O 212.  Just swap the serial cable between the  units and chage the 
programmer type & port settings in Promlink 6.1.   works great.. the 212 also has 
user-friendly menus in standalone mode (unlike  the 29B) so if I just need to 
copy something or verify some blanks I dont need  to fire up the PC at all, just 
select the manufacturer & device from the  lists on the LCD.
 
I guess the only downside is I dont think Promlink will support anything  
above 4 megabit devices (?). My unit only supports upto 2mb  devices standalone 
with v3.0 software, but I think I've done some 27C040's with  PL. I've never 
had to burn anything bigger than that yet..
 
I have a Xeltek Superpro still hooked up on the same system that I use the  
Data I/Os on and I havn't fired that thing up in years as the 212  takes care 
of everything.. I havn't checked, but I'm guessing they're  probably worth less 
than $100.
