JANUARY 31ST, 2010 (NEW YORK, NEW YORK) Vox Novus in collaboration with the
Remarkable Theater Brigade and Jan Hus Church is proud to present their
monthly chamber concert series Sunday, January 31st at 1:00 PM featuring the
New York Miniaturist Ensemble with Erik Carlson (violin), Cory Smythe
(piano), and Kelli Kathman (flute) performing the music of Peter Ablinger,
Jason Eckardt, Panayiotis Domopoulos , Trevor Gureckis, Jude Traxler, Anna
Mikhailova, Javier Navarrete, Adobe Brunswick, and D. Edward Davis.

The New York Miniaturist Ensemble has performed hundreds of new works by
composers from around the world. Over 200 composers have written works for
the Ensemble, including Karlheinz Stockhausen, Christian Wolff, Michael
Finnissy, Tom Johnson, Charles Wuorinen, Georges Aperghis, Alvin Lucier,
Pauline Oliveros, Sylvano Bussotti, Henri Pousseur, Kevin Volans, and
Jandek. In addition to their regular live performances, the NYME recently
recorded for Albany Records, and has been featured on radio in Chicago and
New York. Formed in 2004 by graduates of the Juilliard School, the Ensemble
has been praised for their virtuosic performances and innovative
programming.

"Don't miss! An upstart local group proves that a little means a lot."-Time
Out New York
"Hot Pick... hard to beat. It's more than conceptual art - it's art."-The
New York Post
"One of the freshest ideas in chamber music in years."-Brian Joseph Davis
"The conceptual atmosphere created by the ensemble pointed to a new
direction of contemporary classical performance practice."-Steve Kornicki
"A musical Miniature is better than another symphony."-Karlheinz Stockhausen

Composer Peter Ablinger has "come a long way in questioning the nature of
sound, time, and space (the components usually thought central to music),
and his findings have jeopardized and made dubious conventions usually
thought irrefutable. These insights pertain to repetition and monotony,
reduction and redundancy, density and entropy."-Christian Scheib

Jason Eckardt's music combines richly complex surfaces with striking
structural clarity, yielding works that are at once visceral in their impact
and compelling in their intellectual rigor. His aesthetic both embraces the
modernist tradition and expands it through his exploration of new harmonic
and timbral resources.
"Brilliant"- New York Times
"Dazzling" BBC
"Emotionally resonating" - Los Angeles Times
