October 31, 2010 (NEW YORK, NEW YORK) Vox Novus in collaboration with the
Remarkable Theater Brigade and Jan Hus Church is proud to present their
monthly chamber concert series Sunday, October 31st at 1:00pm. October's
concert concert features new music composed by Roger Blanc, Douglas DaSilva,
Rebekah Driscoll, Randall Eng, Jerry Hui, FayeEllen Silverman, Robson dos
Santos and Leah Villarreal and performances by: Roger Blanc, guitar; Kenji
Haba, guitar; Laura Jordan, marimba; Laura Mitchell, voice; James D. Sasser,
voice; Angela Scherrah, voice; and Lindsey Warford, harp.

Hailed as "one of the most brilliant young composers of his generation" (New
Music Connoisseur), Randall Eng has devoted his career to mining the
territory between opera, music-theatre, and jazz. His opera Florida has been
presented at Lyric Opera Cleveland, New York City Opera's VOX festival, and
the Public Theater's New Work Now! festival. Randall has received awards
from the American Music Center, the Civitella Ranieri Foundation, and the
Bang on a Can Summer Institute.

Pecussionist Laura Jordan has participated in the Paris Marimba Competition,
the Perkumania, and the Princeton Marimba festivals for which she received a
Peabody Career Grant and a Semans Art Fund Grant. In 2010, she was selected
as a fellow by the Bang on a Can organization. In the 2009-10 season, Laura
served as the Artistic Director of the Takemitsu Project and presented the
New York Premiere of Takemitsu's "Seasons" at Merkin Hall.

Singer, actor and writer James D. Sasser has been involved in the
development of dozens of new musical works with such organizations as
Manhattan Theatre Club, The Eugene O'Neill Center, Sundance Theatre Lab, The
Vineyard Theatre, Playwrights Horizons, and New Dramatists. New operas range
from Mel Marvin's Guest from the Future, Randall Eng's Florida and Henry's
Wife, to experimental work like I/O by Joe Diebes and Phil Soltanoff.

Guitarist/composer/arranger, Roger Blanc has worked with television (Tonight
Show, Saturday Night Live, David Letterman), film (Frida, Untouchables, Wag
The Dog, Fargo), recording with such notables as Barbra Streisand, Yoko Ono,
Michael Jackson, Paul Simon, and Bruce Springsteen.

Brazilian-American guitarist/composer Douglas DaSilva's compositions have
been described as "very individual, and to us has a very clear personality"
in Classical Guitar Magazine.

The Eastern and Western cultural experiences influenced the musical
perception and direction of Japanese guitarist Kenji Haba. Haba has
performed throughout the United States and Japan.

Composer's Voice Concert Series is an opportunity for contemporary composers
to express their musical aesthetic and personal "voice" created in their
compositions. Started in 2001, the "Composer's Voice" concert series is
presenting its 53rd concert Sunday October 31, 2010. It is Halloween! Feel
free to celebrate by wearing a costume!
