Debuting in New York City in 2003, 60x60 began as an electro-acoustic “tape”
concert with 60 short electro-acoustic works, synchronized with an analog
clock marking the passage of time. Since then, 60x60 has received thousands
of audio submissions from composers around the world, and has produced radio
programs, collaborated with dance, video, sculpture, and photography, and
released several CDs. To view a recent 60x60 dance concert, see:

360 degrees of 60x60
This version of 60x60 was sponsored in part by the International Computer
Music Association (ICMA), and was created for the 2010 International
Computer Music Conference (ICMC), presented in June of this year by Stony
Brook University in association with New York University and the Electronic
Music Foundation in New York City. Six hour-long, 2-channel electro-acoustic
mixes were premiered during the conference and continue to be presented
(both individually and combined) in concert and broadcast internationally.
The six mixes, totaling 360 works from around the world, were each named a
different shade of red to honor the R.E.D. (Research/Education/Discovery)
edition of ICMC: Burgundy, Crimson, Magenta, Sanguine, Scarlet, and
Vermilion.

Crimson Mix
This 60-minute program of 2-channel electro-acoustic works was one of six
such mixes that were unveiled this summer under the banner “360 degrees of
60x60,” during the 2010 International Computer Music Conference in New York.
Each mix is 60 minutes long, comprising 60 works each lasting no more than
60 seconds. Since its premiere at the ICMC this summer, the Crimson Mix has
also been heard at the Taipei Contemporary Art Center (Taiwan), the
Contemporanea festival (Udine, Italy), and the 10th anniversary Electronic
Music Midwest festival at Lewis University (Romeoville, IL). Forthcoming
performances include the International Computer Music Festival at threewalls
gallery (Chicago) and The Music Gallery (Toronto). To read biographies of
and program notes by the participating Crimson Mix composers, see:
