[Voxnovus] Call for Works - LIVEWIRE Festival and Symposium and 60 second works for 60x60 (LIVEWIRE MIX)

For all those who are kicking themselves for not submitting a 60 second
work. One last chance for this year to be considered for the 60x60
(LIVEWIRE MIX)

The UMBC Department of Music announces its second annual LIVEWIRE Festival
and Symposium (Oct. 27-29, 2011). Livewire 2: On Fire focuses on
controversies, developments and trends in contemporary music in the first
decade of the 21st century. The LIVEWIRE Festival and Symposium is
soliciting proposals for paper presentations, lecture recitals, and
demonstrations related to music-making in the first decade of the millenium,
including but not limited to uses of technology, performance practice,
specific works or composers, trends in any and all musical genres, issues of
documentation and dissemination, or issues related to under-represented
groups. In collaboration with the Vox Novus 60x60 Project, the Livewire
Festival is also soliciting 60" electroacoustic works from 60 composers,
with or without video, for a festival installation, the 60x60 (LIVEWIRE
MIX).

Interested participants should send an abstract of 250 words or less, audio
documentation and a proposed program (for lecture recitals), a short bio,
and a complete list of technical requirements to: Dr. Anna Rubin,
airubin at umbc.edu with a subject of "livewire". Digital submissions of
proposals are preferred but hard copies may be sent to: Dr. Anna Rubin, FA
519 UMBC, 1000 Hilltop Circle, Baltimore, MD 21250. For Livewire 60x60 ONLY,
submit your audio submission at http://www.voxnovus.com/60x60/submission/ .
If submitting a video work for Livewire 60x60, send it directly on DVD to
Anna Rubin. Alternatively, you can send an online link to your audio and/or
video submissions. Send a 100-word program note on your Livewire 60x60
submission and short bio to airubin at umbc.edu. All submissions and materials
must be submitted by March 18, 2011.

The call is open to composers of any nationality, age, or career stage.

Deadline for 60 second compositions for 60x60 (LIVEWIRE MIX) is March 18th,
2011

There is no admission fee.

Audio submissions must be in either AIFF or WAV file format.

Multiple submissions are accepted from a single composer/sound artist;
however, only one submission will be allowed per email address submitted.
