This Sunday March 6th, 2011 at 1:00 PM Composer’s Voice presents its Annual
Women’s History Month Celebration Concert featuring the work of Lynn
Bechtold, Emily Doolittle, Alexandra Frederick, Ellina Graypel, Claudia
Montero, Milica Paranosic with performances by Lynn Becthold, (violin,
electronics), Jasmin Bey Cowin, (harp), Alexandra Frederick, (piano, voice),
Ellina Graypel, (voice, guitar), Milica Paranosic, (electronics), and Sophia
Yan, (piano)

Belgrade born Milica Paranosic is a “free-wheeling, performance-art-type
cat” (Kyle Gann), her works performed at traditional and alternative spaces
worldwide, prompting comments just as diverse as Milica’s art:

amazing
.astonishing
(Jack Anderson, New York Times), ...like liquor
filled pralinés.
(Von Martina Helmig, Morgenpost, Germany), ...
“Intoxication profusion of seemingly unrelated impressions” (Steve Smith,
Time Out New York).

Pianist Sophia Yan performed at age 4 in Carnegie Hall and at 9 at the
Kennedy Center. Sophia is a four-time first prize winner of the Steinway
Society Competition and winner of International Concert Alliance and
International Young Artist Competitions. Neil Genzlinger of The New York
Times writes, “
the music literally pulls her off the piano bench; she
ranges up and down the keyboard so quickly and with such ferocity that mere
sitting will not do.”

By the age of fourteen Valerie Coleman had already written three full-length
symphonies and won several local and state flute competitions. Coleman is
the founder/resident composer of the Grammy-nominated wind quintet Imani
Winds, widely recognized for their significant contributions to the world of
chamber music repertoire.

Highly acclaimed alternative rock singer Ellina Graypel. Ellina is an
award-winning Russian singer/songwriter, who has been writing songs since
she was 13 and played at many venues in Europe and all around US.
