15-Minutes-of-Fame: < 15 written for Sophia Yan

Vox Novus is calling for one-minute solo piano works composed by children
under the age of 15 for a very special 15-Minutes-of-Fame: <15. The
one-minute piano works are to be written specifically for this project. The
selected pieces will be performed at the September 18, 2011 Composer's Voice
concert in New York City by pianist Sophia Yan.

Works should be submitted as a PDF file with a 50-word (max) biography and
parental consent form.
Because of the age of the composers, we suggest keeping personal
biographical information to a minimum.

This call is open to composers, 15 years or younger on September 18, 2011.

Guidelines
-All works must be 60 seconds or less written for piano.
-Extended techniques are okay; however, no prepared piano will be
considered.
-No intervals for either hand should exceed an octave, with exceptions of a

played by a thumb (e.g. F-G-D-G on the RH).
-Works need to be submitted via email to ComposersVoiceSubmit at gmail.com by
May 31, 2011 with 15-Minutes-of-Fame: < 15 in the subject line of the email

include your city and state in the text.

Pianist Sophia Yan performed at age 4 in Carnegie Hall and at 9 at the
Kennedy Center. Sophia is a four-time first prizewinner of the Steinway
Society Competition and winner of International Concert Alliance and
International Young Artist Competitions. Neil Genzlinger of The New York
Times writes, ".the music literally pulls her off the piano bench; she
ranges up and down the keyboard so quickly and with such ferocity that mere
sitting will not do." Yan has appeared in Lincoln Center, Steinway Hall,
CAMI Hall, Chateau de Fontainbleau (France), St. Nicolo's Auditorium (Italy)
and Niagara Courthouse (Canada).
