[Voxnovus] Call for Scores - 15-Minutes-of-Fame: Maria Carolina Cavalcanti - flute

Brazilian Composer Sergio Roberto de Oliveira, a member of Preludio 21 group
of composers, is celebrating his 15th anniversary as a composer. For this
celebration that he will have a series of concerts in Rio de Janeiro. And
invited Vox Novus to share one of these concerts with him. 

So, Vox Novus is calling for one-minute pieces with composed for Fifteen
Minutes of Fame: Maria Carolina Cavalcanti, flutes (G, C and piccolo) to be
performed at the October 7th, 2012 Composer's Voice concert in Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil. The one-minute solo pieces are to be written specifically
for this project, which will be performed by Maria Carolina Cavalcanti, solo
flute. All works must be 60 seconds or less. 

The theme of this call is Brazil. The Brazilian theme could include pieces
inspired by Brazilian culture and/or landscape. 

Pieces may be written for one of the three flutes. 

Extended techniques for flute are welcome, but, in this case, the composer
should indicate where the technique can be found and/or a description of the
notation in the score with the performance notes. If there is any question
about the composer's intent involving extended techniques, the performer can
get in touch with the composer. 

Submission guidelines:
-Submission Deadline: July 15th, 2012
-Works written for solo flute, between C, G or Piccolo
-Works must be submitted as a PDF file with a picture of the composer,
50-word biography, and 50-word program note about the piece.
-The 50-word biography and 50 word program notes must be pasted as text in
the body of the email. Please do not send these as attachments.
-The composer's picture must be attached as a jpg file.
-The score must be attached as a pdf. (performance notes should be included
with the score.) 
-Do not submit sound files
-Works must be realistically one minute or less in length. No works over a
minute will be reviewed.
-Works need to be submitted via email to: composersvoicesubmit at gmail.com 
-The subject line should read - 15-Minutes-of-Fame: Maria Carolina
Cavalcanti - Composer Name - Composition Title
-Works should be composed specifically for this project and its performer.
All pieces must be premieres and not previously written or performed. 

No works over a minute will be reviewed. Multiple submission are
discouraged. Send your best work! The results will be announced by September
7th, 2012 on the Vox Novus website, and composers of the 15 accepted works

Specialized in chamber music, flutist Maria Carolina Cavalcanti integrates
the groups GNU (Modern and Contemporary Music), Ventos do Rio (Flute trio),
Impressons Quartet (Instrumental Popular Music), Duo Americas (Flute and
Guitar) and Ensemble Jocy de Oliveira ("Revisitando Stravinsky" - 2010 and
its DVD - 2011). Performed at Brazilian Biennial of Contemporary Music, at
Preludio 21 series, etc. Premiered several pieces of today's music, some of
them dedicated to herself. Recorded and preformed in the release concerts of
CD "Sem Espera", by composer Sergio Roberto de Oliveira at Rio de Janeiro,
Amsterdam, London and Manchester. Has a BA in Flute and is Master in Music
at UNIRIO, both courses under the orientation of flutist Laura Ronai.
