A Footnote

A Footnote
<http://www.voxnovus.com/NM421/issue/postcard/13-02-02-A_Footnote.jpg>

A footnote to those actions of the North American Minimalist Society's
Keyboard Division: Lest you think it's easy to pinch a pipe organ pipe,
well, it isn't. Carefully planning and cunning alone aren't always enough.
Sometimes paranormal phenomena are required. Lucy, here, for example, is
about to call upon powers she cultivated while earning her Girl Scout Dark
Arts Merit Badge - reputed to be second in complexity only to the Thin Mints
as a Lethal Weapon Merit Badge. She'll then be able to stroll out of the
Royal Albert Hall with a 32-foot contra-bombarde tucked underneath her cap.
And although the pilfered pipe was ultimately recovered - from a pipe and
tobacco shop in Islington - Lucy refused to restore it to its original size
- and no one dared argue with her, at least not while she was brandishing
that box of Thin Mints.

COMPOSER'S VOICE
PRESENTS:
THE 3RD ANNUAL
BRAZILIAN CONCERT
FEATURING PRELUDIO 21

Sunday February 10, 2013

Composer's Voice presents the 3rd Annual Trajetoria Brasileira, a concert
featuring the music of Brazilian composers. This international collaboration
will feature Preludio 21 performed by New York's Bella Winds. Composer's
Voice will also present the U.S. premiere of Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame with
flutist Maria Carolina Cavalcanti, an encore performance from the world
premiere of the 15 works in Brazil last October. The 15 one-minute pieces by
different composers from around the world were written specifically for this
collaboration incorporating a Brazilian theme.

For more than 15 years, Preludio 21 has stood out against the backdrop of
contemporary music of Rio de Janeiro, promoting a single aesthetic line of
work, "creating a mosaic of different compositional styles", as the
musicians themselves do keen to highlight. Preludio 21's CD Quartetos de
Cordas [A Casa Discos] recorded by the string quartet Quarteto Radames
Gnattali was nominated for Best Classical Music CD for the 2012 Latin Grammy
Award.
