[Voxnovus] Call for scores: Composer’s Voice, Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame, and more from Composer’s Site

Composer’s Voice features Tallā Rouge International Composer Competition

Vox Novus is collaborating with viola duo Tallā Rouge to explore the Art 
of the Viola Duo biennially. Every other year the Tallā Rouge Viola Duo 
hosts a competition for composers around the world to write or arrange 
new works for 2 violas.

No Age Restrictions. No Genre Restrictions. No Length Restrictions

The only rule is that the work must be written for two violas!

Tallā Rouge encourages creative & genre-bending works for the viola duo 
exploring folk roots of the world.

Winners will receive a high-quality recording of one movement of their 
work by the acclaimed Tallā Rouge Viola Duo. Selected works will be 
featured on Composer’s Voice TV show in New York City.

Fifteen Minutes of Meditation and Contemplation

Vox Novus is calling for one-minute pieces composed for solo taishogoto 
(a Japanese String instrument). Selected works will be premiered on 
September 30, 2023 at 2:00 PM U.S. East Coast Time (UTC-4) on 
Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame featuring multi-instrumentalist David Bohn. This 
performance will be presented as a live streaming online concert 
broadcasted to multiple streaming platforms such as YouTube and 
Facebook. The selected works will also receive a recording session. For 
this Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame, we are looking for solo taishogoto works 
(no electronics) specifically written for David Bohn, with the theme of 
meditation or contemplation.

Delta Trio is based in Eugene Oregon, dedicated to performing new works 
for the community of Eugene. Our goal is to engage with social and 
environmental issues through the programming and curation of new musical 
experiences. This year's Call for Scores is centered around the theme of 
climate change and environmentalism. Pieces submitted must engage with 
this topic in some way.

Canadian musicians Emily Hiemstra (viola) and Sonya Nanos (cello) are 
pleased to support contemporary composers in championing and performing 
new works in 2023. FIVE new works for viola and cello will be programmed 
and performed in during the 2023/2024 concert season.
In building and sustaining the future of classical music, Emily and 
Sonya are putting together a concert program aimed for young children 
and their families on the theme of FARM ANIMALS. Composers are 
encouraged to approach the theme in either an anthropomorphic style, or 
pastoral feel.

2023 HerVoice Emerging Women Composers Competition

Chicago a cappella seeks submissions for HerVoice, a competition and 
mentorship program for women composers. A partnership with the Vancouver 
Youth Choir, this opportunity is open to composers of all ages who 
self-identify as female, from anywhere in the world. It is intended to 
promote the work of promising composers and provide hands-on training to 
further their skills in choral composition. We are seeking composers who 
are eager to improve their skill at choral composition in particular. 
Women composers whose career is in its early stages and women composers 
of color are particularly encouraged to apply.
