Myftaraj speaking about their upcoming concert series performances“We the
People” and their performance THE SHADOWS OF OUR DESTINY at WeillRecital
Hall at Carnegie Hall on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 8:00 pm.
The Carnegie performance titled “WE THE PEOPLE” Immigrant stories in music
features works: Jakub Polaczyk: Slavic Streams : “Śmiętlana” (world
premiere)

Joseph Haydn: Symphony No.44 in E minor

Adrian Sylveen, artistic director and conductor
Adrian Sylveen speaks of the meaning of The Shadows of OurDestiny and the
Connecticut Virtuosi. Jakub Polaczyk will speak about his worldpremiere
Slavic Streams : “Śmiętlana” and Brunilda Myftaraj apeak about
herperformance of Alban Berg’s Violin Concerto. Also featured on this
episode of Composer’s Voice is Jakub Polaczyk’s “Dandelionsfrom the
Palisades” and The Connecticut Virtuosi performing Glazunov’s Violin
Concerto with Brunilda Myftaraj playingviolin and conducted by Adrian
Sylveen.
Albanian-American violinist Brunilda Myftaraj has drawnenthusiastic
accolades from audiences and critical acclaim for her masterfulmusicianship
in Albania, Italy, Greece, France, Morocco, Austria, Switzerland,Poland,
Israel, and the United States. She has been praised by the critics asan
“especially fine and beautiful player.” Myftaraj’s teachers are some of
theworld’s finest, but her true inspiration comes from her audiences and
students.Since 2023 Mrs. Myftaraj is a member of The Berkshire Bach
Society. Herrecordings of“Naked Violin” and “The American Pie” received
impeccable reviewsfrom Fanfare magazine.
Award-winning musician Adrian Sylveen enjoys a performing career in the
United States and Europe. He is an artistic director of the Connecticut
Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and the founding music director and conductor of
Connecticut Lyric Opera. Sylveen has conducted approximately 35 operatic
titles and has an extensive orchestral repertoire. He has conducted and
performed concerts in the United States, Poland, Italy, Israel, Cuba,
Switzerland, Germany, and the former Soviet Union and worked with such
ensembles as Israel Chamber Orchestra, Holguín Symphony Orchestra,
Orchestra da Camera di Greve-In-Chianti, Olsztyn Philharmonic, Elbląg
Chamber Orchestra, Central Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra, and others.
Jakub Polaczyk, born in Kraków, Poland, is a New York-based composer and
pianist. In 2023 Awarded Gloria Artis Bronze Medal by the Minister of
Culture of Poland. Runner-up of the 2024 John Eaton New York Composers
Circle Competition, Best Instrumental Album winner by Clouzine Magazine in
2024, Double Silver Medal winner of the Global Music Awards (2023),
Composers' Guild of New Jersey Call for Scores winner (2022), Winner of the
2020 American Prize in Composition (Chamber Music) and 2013 Iron Instant
Composer Award in Cleveland, OH. He graduated from Jagiellonian University,
Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, and Carnegie Mellon
University, and as a Socrates-Erasmus exchange program, he studied at the
Royal Conservatory of Brussels. His teachers were: Marcel Chyrzynski,
Krzysztof Pendereceki, Marek Choloniewski, Jan van Landeghem and Reza Vali.
Since 2015, he has been teaching at the New York Conservatory of Music and,
Between 2020-2023 he was the Director of the International Chopin and
Friends Festival in NYC, directing the International Composition
Competition "New Vision" from 2018- 2023 and in 2020 Virtual NYDAI
Quarantine YT Talks Series. Since 2021, Jakub has been hosting his
"Coffees after Bach" program at the Polish Radio WRKL: AM910, NYC/AM1030,
Chicago. Documentary "Conversations with Jakub Polaczyk" directed by Dennis
Woytek won Bronze statuette at the 43rd Telly Awards in New York City
(2023) . His music is published by: Donemus, Babel Scores, PWM, DUX and
Albany Records.
Composer's Voice showcases full contemporary works by musicians who
champion new music from living composers. Episodes of Composer's Voice air
its half-hour show every 2 weeks on Saturday at 2:00 PM EDT (UTC-4) on NYC
cable access TV with Manhattan Neighborhood's Network channel 2.

Bloomfield, NJ – The Sanctuary on the Green Arts, Cultural and Community
Alliance, in collaboration with Vox Novus, is excited to bring the
critically acclaimed "Tokyo to New York" concert series to Bloomfield, NJ,
for the first time on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 3:00 PM. Hosted at the
historic Sanctuary on the Green, this landmark event marks the New Jersey
debut of the renowned international series that has captivated audiences in
both Tokyo and New York for years.
The series, known for its eclectic and boundary-crossing musical
selections, has found a new home in the heart of Bloomfield, embracing the
town’s rich cultural and artistic heritage. This performance will feature
clarinetist and hichiriki player Thomas Piercy, cellist Daniel Hass, and
pianist Marina Iwao, showcasing works from Beethoven to contemporary
composers like Dai Fujikura and Minako Tokuyama.
“We are thrilled to be hosting the first-ever New Jersey performance of
'Tokyo to New York,'” said Danny Leo, Program Chair of the Sanctuary on the
Green Arts, Cultural and Community Alliance. “This series has resonated
with audiences in major cultural hubs across the globe, and we’re excited
to offer this internationally renowned program in our local community. It’s
a unique opportunity to connect global sounds with the local heartbeat of
Bloomfield.”
Founded with the mission of bridging Eastern and Western musical
traditions, "Tokyo to New York" has grown into a celebrated platform for
both emerging and established composers and performers. Each performance in
the series highlights a blend of classical masterpieces and contemporary
works that reflect the diverse cultural influences of Tokyo and New York.
Now, this vibrant exchange of musical traditions is coming to New Jersey
for the first time.

Slippery Rock University's Dance Department is hosted two presentations at
the Dance Studio Theater in Stoner West. In one hour, more than 100
musicians, painters, dancers, choreographers and filmmakers from SRU will
showcase their talent through 60 dance segments in 60-second intervals.
"This event is not limited by genre, so choreographers are free to
interpret their sections as they choose and we expect to see many styles
and artistic voices represented," Hasenpflug said. "This is a great event
if you like short scenes, and that's definitely in line with the attention
span of today."

Deadline for works is October 14th, 2024
Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame is calling for one-minute pieces composed for solo
saxophone. Selected works will be premiered on Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame with
Saxophonist Drew Holser in the beginning of 2025 with an online performance.
