Founded in March 2021, the B# Chamber Trio brings new chamber music to
Chattanooga through free concerts at local churches, creating welcoming
musical sanctuaries for audiences of all ages. Their mission is to use
music—“a gift of God”—to inspire connection, beauty, and lifelong
appreciation of ensemble performance.

At the heart of the trio is Nicole Doran, bassoonist, composer-performer,
and community advocate. A passionate music educator and performer, Doran is
affiliated with ArtsBuild, Chamber Music America, and the Music Teachers
National Association. She has taught at Patrick Henry College, Bryan
College, and Liberty University, and now runs an independent music studio
in Red Bank.

This Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame episode features miniature compositions by
Richard Campanelli, Neil Crawford, William J. Joel, Hoyong Lee, Kaori
Nakano, Juan Luis de Pablo Enríquez Rohen, Volker Ignaz Schmidt, Rudesindo
Soutelo, Matthew Tirona, Alexander Unseth, Jean-Pierre Vial, Joseph M.
Vogel, Anna Vriend, Rozan Vroman, and Blair Whittington.

Alexander Unseth#1 on the Billboard® Traditional Classical Chart[image:

"I struggled with the art of composition, a journey that almost led me to
quit it altogether. My compositional knowledge is purely self-taught and I
studied business as a major in college. As such, I wasn’t surrounded by a
musical community very often. Companies struggled to see how music fit into
my major and I had several corporate entities tell me I should quit it
entirely. One day, at the age of 21, I stumbled upon a competition through
Fifteen Minutes of Fame. On a whim, I entered a piece, not expecting
anything. When I was selected, I felt my world turn upside down. Turns out
there were entities out there that valued my music enough to not only
select it for competitions, but also perform it live. Since then, I have
entered and won other Fifteen Minutes of Fame contests. The sheer
creativity of instruments and ensemble types used in these competitions
solidify it as one of the foundational aspects of my continuing
compositional journey. It has opened my eyes to a new world of music, a
world that places an emphasis on new, interesting music. As a young
composer like myself, what more could I possibly want?

Just two years after that initial competition, I am now a featured artist
on two international albums, one of which hit #1 on the Billboard®️
Traditional Classical Chart. I have Robert Voisey and Fifteen Minutes of
Fame to thank for that. Without that initial push, I would not have
discovered such potential within myself. They are truly an organization
that pushes composers to think outside the box and become better for doing
it." - Alexander Unseth
