Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame – Toy Piano & Dance with Yumi Suehiro 2nd Set Part
of the Queens New Music Festival

Composer’s Voice proudly presents the second set of Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame
featuring pianist Yumi Suehiro on toy piano. Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame (FMOF)
is a signature Vox Novus project that invites composers from around the
world to create one-minute works written for a featured performer. For this
special edition, the toy piano becomes a stage for bold experimentation as
each miniature composition is paired with original choreography under the
direction of Dance Director Rachael Kosch. The result is a seamless fusion
of sound and movement—15 concise but striking encounters where music and
dance inspire, challenge, and transform one another in real time at the
Queens New Music Festival in the Secret Theater in Queens New York.

Born in Osaka, Japan, Yumi Suehiro began her musical journey at age six and
quickly earned acclaim with numerous competition wins, including the Kobe
International Competition as its youngest winner. A graduate of the
Manhattan School of Music with a Master of Music under Zenon Fishbein and
Peter Vinograde, Suehiro has performed internationally at festivals such as
Darmstädter Ferienkurse and Sound of Stockholm, and as a core member of
Ensemble Mise-en, notably performing Ligeti’s Piano Concerto in 2017.
Dedicated to education, she has also served on the faculty of Lehman
College Continuing Education.
