[Bska] Origin of Schwarz

According to an article in Wikipedia, the use of 'schwartz' in Skat comes  
from it's meaning of 'poor, without money' in an old Germanic Gypsy  language 
called Rotwelsch.  A couple of articles I found on Google  seem to back this up, 
although my German isn't good enough to be sure.
 
I wondered if anyone else had come across this.
