NEW: LOCATIVE NARRATIVE

Introducing Emberlight

Emberlight is a new U.K. enterprise that lets you upload and share Tinderbox documents over the Web. It combines two powerful ideas:

- Tinderbox version control: you and your colleagues can share the same Tinderbox document.
- Tinderbox visualization: upload your Tinderbox document and view outlines and maps in the browser

Nathan Matias, who gave demos of Emberlight at Tinderbox Weekend London and Hypertext 2010, has just written to tell us that it is now coming out of private beta. He writes:

With Emberlight, you can share Tinderbox documents within your team and publish to the web. It's simple: Log in, upload your file, and you're done!

Emberlight offers two pricing plans:

Emberlight Team Account
-- Groups of up to fifteen users
-- Access to our development planning
-- ($50 USD or 35 GBP per month)

Emberlight Personal Account
-- Single User
-- Publish to the Web
-- Track the version history of your Tinderbox files
-- ($20 USD or 15 GBP per month)

For further information, contact nathan at emberlight.net. He would love to give you a demo over Skype, arrange for a trial period, and work out how you can best use Emberlight.

Emberlight Hosting Giveaway

This summer, Emberlight is giving away one or two six-month Emberlight accounts. Winning projects will also get free Tinderbox consulting from Mark Anderson. Just send us a short (100-300 words) project description before the 16th of August. If you have a Tinderbox file, please attach it. We will keep it private.

Winning entries will be cool on their own merit, or something cool which we consider to be in the public interest.

The Emberlight team, with Mark Anderson's help, will review the projects and make a decision. The winner(s) will be announced by the 23rd of August. Send submissions to heroes at emberlight.net.

Locative Narrative

At Eastgate, we've been reading up on mobile hypertext, especially on locative narratives — hypertext stories that are tied to specific places, or that you read by moving from place to place.

We've started a simple compendium on locative narrative:

Your additions and suggestions are very welcome. If you teach this subject, we'd also welcome syllabuses, reading lists, and information about assignments and experiences.
