MEDIA Development support: developing on and off-line interactive works

For the first time the MEDIA Programme of the European Commission offers a
separate funding scheme (up to EUR 100 000/max. 50% of the budget) for the
development of on and off-line interactive works (eligible projects:
interactive works for computer, internet, mobile phone, games console
including handheld presenting interactivity, scenario and innovation; new
format concepts destined for digital television, the internet or mobile
handsets where interactivity and narrative elements are significant).

Content 360 Cross Media Competition:::MIPTV, April 7 - 11 2008
Pitch your cross media ideas to BBC, NFB, KBC & Ogilvy - and get funding at
MIPTV, the World¹s Audiovisual & Digital Content Market.

In partnership with the BBC, National Film Board of Canada, Ogilvy & the
Korean Broadcasting Commission, the Call for entries is now open for the
2008 Content 360 cross media competition for new ideas to engage audiences
on multiple platforms. More than 100,000 euros available in development
fund.

Application deadline is 21 January 2008 with one page description of your
creative ideas.

Finalists (new media & TV producers, interactive agencies, mobile & internet
developers) with their selected ideas will qualify for final pitching during
MIPTV featuring MILIA in Cannes (7-11 April, 2008).

University of Nottingham:School of Computer Science:Mixed Reality Lab
Senior Research Fellows & Research Fellows/Associates.
The Mixed Reality Laboratory (MRL) brings together researchers from a
number of backgrounds to explore radical new interactive technologies.
Three researchers are required, particularly programmers and developers
with software development skills who are interested in helping to
combine physical and digital technologies to enhance everyday life.
There are vacancies for postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers, with
opportunities for PhD study available. Candidates should have a first
degree in computer science or a related subject. Experience in the
development of new interactive systems and an interest in being involved
in the design and development of radically new technologies is recommended.

New Technologies / Fondation Liedts-Meesen Award
The "New Technologies / Liedts-Meesen Foundation Award" will be bestowed
upon an artwork exploiting state-of-the-art technology and media in its
quest for creativity and renewal. Ten projects will be chosen by an
international jury.

The presentation of the selected works will take place at the same time as
the « Update II » exposition of interactive artworks from the
Centre for Art and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe (Germany).
Peter Weibel, Director of the ZKM, will choose artworks from this
prestigious collection.

During the "Update II" exposition (from 20/4 to 6/7/2008), to be held at the
Zebrastraat Ghent, one of the projects presented will be awarded a
cash prize of 5000 euros by the "New Technologies / Liedts-Meesen Foundation
Award". A People's award will also be given based on visitors'
assessments of this double exposition.
