For the first time the MEDIA Programme of the European Commission offers a
separate funding scheme (up to EUR 100 000/max. 50% of the budget) for the
development of on and off-line interactive works (eligible projects:
interactive works for computer, internet, mobile phone, games console
including handheld presenting interactivity, scenario and innovation; new
format concepts destined for digital television, the internet or mobile
handsets where interactivity and narrative elements are significant).

In conjunction with the 2008 Prix Ars Electronica, the Ludwig Boltzmann
Institute Media.Art.Research will be awarding a prize honoring an
outstanding theoretical work on the subject of <Interactive Artforms>.

Prix Ars Electronica Media.Art.Research Award wants to further scholarly
investigation of media artforms that have not yet gotten established in the
context of art museums or in the commercial art world, and of processual,
conceptual and interactive art that assumes subversive, situational and
committed positions at the interface of art, technology and society.

This new theory prize (prize money: 5.000 euros) is designed to accord due
recognition to the important work being done by art historians and media
scholars in the field of media art, which has emerged over the last two
decades as an innovative, wide-ranging discipline in its own right.


Theoretical works dealing with some aspect of <interactive artforms> can be
entered this year. The work must either be in the form of a completed
manuscript or have already been published. Individuals or groups of people
of any nationality are eligible to enter.

Deadline for submission: March 7, 2008

The Edith Russ Site for Media Art will award three six-months work stipends
from July to December 2008, for artists working in New Media. There are no
age limitations. Submitted project proposals will be reviewed by an
international Jury. A minimum residency of one month is required.

All Nordic new media artists are invited to submit new media art works of
all genres, digital prints and workshop proposals to an open new media art
exhibition.

Submission start date: October 15, 2007
Submission of works closing date: April 30, 2008
No submission or participation fee.

Live Herring Œ08 exhibition (The Jyväskylä Art Museum October 29 - November
16, 2008 Jyväskylä, Finland) searches for Nordic new media art of all genres
from net art to installation and from computer generated art to sound works.
A list of selected work / artists will be announced on the Live Herring
website (www.liveherring.org) at June 15, 2008. Live Herring is also looking
for workshop proposals.
