Great post, Erin.

Like you, I don't find the level of churn and burn that Crawford describes. I also agree with Erin that it's a better place to work in today than in the past, and that there are lots of great opportunities for students. I also find his points somewhat myopic. The game industry - when taken as a whole from non-digital to indie to experimental - is an amazingly diverse place to work with great innovation. In addition to the titles Erin mentioned, we've seen Passage and Everyday Shooter and even things like Lost In Static. Carcassonne goes to Xbox Live, Civilization Revolution brings turn-based strategy to the consoles, and games like WoW are spawning seriously good non-digital games.

It's good times, and I'd hate for students to think otherwise.
