[game_edu] game_edu Digest, Vol 85, Issue 8

I mentor at The Kent Bellows Studio for Visual Art (http://kentbellows.org) as a digital/interaction artist. I've run workshops on analog game design as well as helped interested students make video games. Given the nature of the Studio, and my training, we approach games not as a commercial venture, but as a medium for artistic expression.

My current research project is to create a toolkit to help librarians to make their school library into a game design resource for teachers to tap. If one school librarian gets excited about game design, she/he has the ability to inspire many, many teachers. The tools I create will also be useful for teachers, but my primary focus is to work with school librarians.

I'm currently on a research leave from the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University and am working with the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT game lab at MIT on this project.

Some details are available at our website http://www.p4games.org/ . We have hosted weeklong summer camps for high schoolers on our campus in the past, and are now more focused on teaching the teachers. Thanks for thinking about this sector too.
